The NASCAR Xfinity Series stopped at Road America this weekend for the fourth road course race.
Road America is the longest distance track in the sport with 4 miles of road course.
Everything started well for us with the ninth fastest time in Friday’s practice. This gave us a lot of optimism for Saturday. But as soon as qualifying started, I felt that the car didn’t have the speed we wanted. So the day was more difficult than expected.
We made good changes throughout the race and the car was performing at its best on our last set of tires. But during the last neutralization with 10 laps to go, we decided to stay on the track hoping for a last neutralization later in the race. Unfortunately, this neutralization never happened. We survived the last six laps on much more worn tires than the other cars and could only manage a 21st place. It’s disappointing since road courses are usually our main focus but there are days like that and you have to accept them and come back stronger.
I would like to thank Can-Am Off Road for their support. This was our fourth race with their colors, we have four more to go this season and we intend to be more visible!
I would like you to spare a thought for Guy Laroche who had an unfortunate accident last night at Autodrome Montmagny Speedway during an LMS race. Guy is a photographer who has been covering Stock-Car races in Quebec since I started racing in ACT, anyone who has attended Stock-Car races in Quebec over the past 10 years will recognize him. You can always see him walking around the track with a big smile on his face. The latest news received indicates that he is in stable condition, which is encouraging. Don’t give up my Guy, the next race will be for you.
