Indianapolis, August 16, 2021 – Alex Labbé finished 13th Saturday afternoon at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, his third best result of the season. The race also marked an important milestone in the Quebec driver’s career as it was his 100th career start in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. That’s quite an accomplishment.
“It’s a team result to finish 13th today. We worked hard to recover from the chaos that occurred on the first lap in the rear chicane. In the last practice we finally went back to the same tire strategy as the other cars and moved up a few positions to 13th,” explained the DGM Racing driver.
“My team gave me a great last pit stop, which put us in a great position for the final sprint! I’m really happy with the result of my 100th career race.
Labbé also had a great practice session on Friday finishing tenth. The competition would be fierce Saturday morning as 44 cars tried to qualify for the afternoon race. As usual, Labbé secured his spot for the second session of the day and had a very good race, holding on to the lead lap in the last stage of the race.
Next up is Michigan International Speedway next weekend. This is the first visit in three years to this track.
About Alex Labbé
Alex Labbé is an active racer in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He is the only Quebec driver to race full time at the track. A native of Saint-Albert, Quebec, Alex has had a meteoric rise in motorsports since the beginning of his stock car career. In 2014, he became the youngest ever ACT Series champion. In 2016, he competed in his first full season in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series and in 2017, he became the series champion. In 2018, he advanced to the NASCAR Xfinity Series and earned a spot in the top 20 drivers’ standings. Labbé had his best career season in NASCAR Xfinity in 2020.
