A Race to Benefit Children and Breakfast Club of Canada
NASCAR driver Alex Labbé will have some extra motivation in Martinsville

Martinsville, Virginia, October 27, 2021 – Alex Labbé is normally rather reserved, but not when it comes to helping kids in need. That’s why the driver’s race on October 30 in Martinsville, Virginia will be dedicated to Breakfast Club of Canada, and his #36 special Halloween edition vehicle will sport the club’s logo on the rear hood. Labbé said he’s also made a personal donation to the cause.

“The pandemic has been hard on everyone, but especially on children and families living with food insecurity,” he said. “I’ve been privileged to live my dream on the NASCAR circuit, and I believe all kids should be able to have that chance. You get it when you start the day with the energy you need to learn.”

With this visibility and generous gesture, Labbé hopes his fans will follow suit. A campaign page created in his name has been launched online to promote the NASCAR driver’s contribution and facilitate personal and corporate donations. The link can be found here:

“We are touched by Alex’s generous gesture,” said Tommy Kulczyk, General Manager of Breakfast Club of Canada. “The Club works to not only raise donations, but also to raise public awareness for the cause. With this initiative, Alex is helping us raise funds and promote our mission to make sure that children across the country have the energy they need to learn. It is a privilege to be able to count on the support of someone who is so dedicated to the cause.”

“I think it’s important to use our brand image for something greater than our sport. That was precisely my aim with this initiative,” said Labbé, who drives for DGM Racing. “It will be an extra bit of motivation for me on the Martinsville track.”

Over the last year, the Club has seen a significant increase in attendance and in the need for breakfast programs. In Canada, one in three children is at risk of going to school without having eaten anything. That represents nearly two million children who risk starting their day on an empty stomach. The Club wants to ensure it can continue to reach the considerable number of children who benefitted from a breakfast program in the past year.
