Alex Labbé 11th at Mid-Ohio!
Second best result of the season for the DGM Racing driver
Lexington, Ohio, June 5, 2021 – What an exciting race! The NASCAR Xifinity Series drivers met at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the third road course race of the season.
As expected, St-Albert driver Alex Labbé quickly distinguished himself on what he describes as his favorite track. In fact, the road courses are very advantageous for the Quebec driver who is known to be an excellent technician. On this type of very tight and technical track, Labbé is in his element. In fact, the number 36 car in Prolon’s colors was in the top-10 in the first stage of the race after starting 16th. He completed the course in eighth place.
The DGM Racing driver continued to build momentum and finished the second stage in sixth place ahead of the top teams including Cindric, Herbst, Burton, Jones and Haley. This earned him praise from the American commentators and well-deserved airtime for him and the DGM Racing team.
Just as the sun was finally shining on the horizon for Labbé with 10 laps to go, a three-car collision sent him off the track. He was running eighth at the time. “We were certainly in position to finish fifth before that collision, we had the speed to stay in the top-10 all day. “But the No. 36 driver went all out and made several passes to move up from 27th to 11th in two laps in overtime. The DGM Racing driver collected a total of 34 points in this 13th race of the season.
About Alex Labbé
Alex Labbé is an active racing car driver in the NASCAR Xfinity series. He is the only Quebec driver to race full-time on the circuit. Born in Saint-Albert, Quebec, Alex has enjoyed a meteoric rise in motorsports since the beginning of his stock car career. In 2014, he became the youngest champion in the ACT series. In 2016, he took part in his first full season in the PINTY’s NASCAR series and in 2017 he won the series championship. In 2018, he reached the NASCAR Xfinity series and finished in the top 20. Labbé finished the 2020 season with five top-10 finishes, including a fourth-place finish, and finished 14th in the drivers’ standings.
