Alex Labbé takes 20th place on the Circuit of the Americas
A second race with Can-Am colors
Texas, USA, May 22, 2021 – It was a first day for the NASCAR Xfinity Series as the series drivers raced at Circuit of the Americas, a track that is usually reserved for Formula 1. With its twists and turns, the 3.41 mile track is one of the most technical on the circuit. Alex Labbé thought he could make it to the top-5 as he usually has a lot of success on the road courses but a car problem relegated him to 20th place.
“We had problems with the car from the start of the race, specifically with the front left shock. We were two seconds slower than yesterday in practice so we knew there was something going on with the car. It’s a shame because we really thought this was our weekend, especially with the start of the day we had. That’s the nature of racing”, explained the driver of the number 36 car in Can-Am colors.
The St-Albert driver had a good practice session yesterday when he finished seventh. He then started the day with a fourth place finish in qualifying, his best ever result. “We were extremely fast this morning, on the last lap we were three tenths off the leader Ky Busch. “Ky Busch won today’s event.
Second Can-Am race of the season
The race on the Circuit of the Americas was the second Can-Am off-road race. The brand was able to benefit from a good visibility during the first stage of the race as its protégé maintained his position on the leader’s lap. “It’s remarkable that Alex can compete with top teams,” said Julie Tourville, Director, Global Marketing, Can-Am Off-Road and Groupe Marin. “As a Quebec company, we are proud to support a Quebec athlete who is making a name for himself on the international scene. Alex is a young man filled with talent and determination. We are happy to be by his side in his journey in NASCAR Xfinity and the realization of his dreams. “
