Alex Labbé posts his second best result of the 2021 season
DGM Racing driver finishes 14th in Charlotte in the Larue car
Charlotte, North Carolina, May 29, 2021 – Quebec driver Alex Labbé had a great afternoon at Charlotte Motor Speedway, taking 14th, his second best result of the 2021 season.
The Kenny Wallace tribute car, the Red Dog, continued to bring luck to the St-Albert driver as he was able to climb from 33rd to 14th while avoiding the multiple collisions that marked the race. This is the same car that gave Labbé his best career result on an intermediate track at Darlington in early May.
After struggling early in the race, the DGM Racing driver found himself momentarily in 7th place following the 10th caution and with eight laps to go.
“What a day! We started from 33rd position after a difficult qualifying session. However, we were able to recover in the afternoon by making some adjustments to the car during the race”, explained the driver of the number 36 car. “On the last restart when we were running seventh we lost a few positions but I’m happy with 14th place. Charlotte is not my favorite track, it has brought me bad luck in the past and it’s usually very difficult to compete with the top teams, so this result is very positive for us.”
About Alex Labbé
Alex Labbé is an active racing car driver in the NASCAR Xfinity series. He is the only Quebec driver to race full-time on the circuit. Born in Saint-Albert, Quebec, Alex has enjoyed a meteoric rise in motorsports since the beginning of his stock car career. In 2014, he became the youngest champion in the ACT series. In 2016, he took part in his first full season in the PINTY’s NASCAR series and in 2017 he won the series championship. In 2018, he reached the NASCAR Xfinity series and finished in the top 20. Labbé finished the 2020 season with five top-10 finishes, including a fourth-place finish, and finished 14th in the drivers’ standings.
