The 2017 NASCAR Pinty’s Series champion, Alex Labbé finished 25th in the Chevrolet Camaro 36 Prolon Controls, Rousseau Métal, SilverWax ,GBI from DGM Racing. As with the majority of races this season in the Xfinity Series, there was no practice and no qualifying.

Labbé had a good start in his new Camaro 36 and after 10 laps he was in 21st position on the one and a half mile track. On lap 26 of the 167-lap race, the first yellow flag of the race was out and Labbé complained about oversteer and he was in 25th position. Labbé chose to stay on the track as several of his opponents entered the pits. Labbé finishes the first 40-lap segment in 29th position. The tires wear quickly and there is a difference of almost three seconds between new and worn tires. The race is restarted on lap 48 and Labbé is in 26th position. On lap 67, the race is neutralized because there is liquid on the track. Labbé chooses to stay on the track and on the restart on lap 34, he is in 17th position. Labbé finished the second 40-lap segment in 22nd place with completely worn out tires and a front left hander that was an oversprinter. Labbé was in 20th place on the restart on lap 88. He will reach 12th place before the tires deteriorate. With two laps to go leader Noah Gragson hit the back of a latecomer and we find ourselves in overtime. Labbé is in 19th place and he takes advantage of the restart to finish in 16th place. Labbé’s car was very fast at the beginning of the restart but deteriorated very quickly with the tire wear and we will certainly make the necessary adjustments for the next race.
